AHEC offers several preceptor development opportunities:
Expert Preceptor Program:
Eleven written modules for independent study.
Modules 1-3 focus on critical skills related to teaching in a community practice setting.
The remaining seven modules focus on the teaching of contemporary health care issues.
Preceptor Development Program:
Succinct modules with the following nine9 topics: The One-Minute Preceptor,
Setting Expectations, Giving Feedback, Evaluation: Making It Work, Integrating the Learner into the Busy Practice,
Teaching at the Bedside (which includes both inpatient and outpatient teaching), Teaching Styles/Learning Styles,
Dealing with the Difficult Learning Situation, and The Effective Preceptor. Multiple formats and CME credits
are available.
