Description:  ** Vimeo Webcast ** - This webinar will address the critical needs for training HCP’s in the areas of human rabies risk assessments using current rabies ACIP guidance for PEP decisions and NC DHHS risk assessment algorithms, as well as the applicable legal requirements for rabies control.

Objectives:  1. Describe the epidemiology of rabies in animals in North Carolina.
  2. Evaluate exposures to domestic and wild mammals using the N.C. Human Rabies Risk Assessment Algorithms.
  3. Review the NC General Statutes related to rabies: physician reporting requirements, rabies prevention and control (Chapter 130A – Public Health, Article 6 – Communicable Diseases, Sections 184 through 201)
  4. Identify persons who should receive pre-exposure prophylaxis, the regimen and indications for RFFIT titers
  5. Describe postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) regimens for naïve individuals (healthy and immune-compromised) and previously vaccinated persons.
  6. List species that pose a risk.
