* Closed * - Advances in Orthopaedics: An Update for the Primary Care Provider

Description:  This orthopaedic symposium is designed to address the evaluation and management of many commonly encountered orthopaedic conditions in the primary care and therapy offices. The goal is to provide a systematic review of current treatment recommendations. This course will address recent changes in orthopaedic paradigms and new technologies; improvements in standardization of care and coordination between health care providers; and efficiently utilizing our health care resources.

Objectives:  1. Describe treatment options for rotator cuff injuries.
  2. Review operative and non-operative treatment options for cervical spine conditions.
  3. Describe the factors that contribute to osteoarthritis in young patients and appropriate non-operative treatments.
  4. Define risk factors for fragility fractures.
  5. Distinguish hip joint pathology from other conditions that cause hip pain.
  6. Describe specific physical exam findings so they correlate with common causes for pain.
  7. Identify the most common causes and treatment for heel pain.
  8. Decipher the different treatment options based on a patient's age and activity.
