ORPCE Student Placement

Student Placements
The AHEC ORPCEs facilitate quality, community-based, primary care education for NC health science students in medicine, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, nurse midwifery, and pharmacy. The Wake AHEC ORPCE assists course coordinators in the placement of students with community preceptor sites located within the nine-county Wake AHEC region. The following counties are included: Durham, Franklin, Granville, Johnston, Lee, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren counties.

If you have an interest in completing a rotation within the Wake AHEC region, notify the course coordinator for your program. Efforts will be made to accommodate requests for specific preceptors; however these requests cannot be guaranteed.

All requests for student placements must be submitted on a Community Primary Care Rotation Form. Efforts will be made to accommodate requests for specific preceptors; however these requests cannot be guaranteed.

Wake AHEC also works with the health science schools to identify and recruit community preceptors who can provide the student with a community experience that is both satisfying and meets the course objectives. If you know of a primary care physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or pharmacist who would make an excellent instructor, please contact the ORPCE office.

Non-ORPCE Students
The primary goal of ORPCE is to serve North Carolina health science schools in primary care professions. Limited assistance may be available to students who are not part of the ORPCE system.
