The Wake AHEC Training Center will be closing effective June 2008.  The Training Center will continue to offer Healthcare Provider CPR courses through March 28, 2008.   Wake AHEC Dental Education and Continuing Medical Education (CME) will continue to offer CPR courses in collaboration with another Training Center.

  1. What happens to my Training Center membership?

Wake AHEC will continue to operate as a Training Center through June 2008.  Unless otherwise requested, all memberships will be transferred to the newly formed Rex Healthcare Training Center effective in June 2008.  A signed transfer request must be completed and returned to Wake AHEC.

  1. What are the membership fees for 2008?

Wake AHEC membership fees will be $20.00 for six months of service (January – June 2008).  The remaining fee for July – December 2008 will be due to your new Training Center.  For Rex Healthcare transfers, the remaining fee will be $20.00.

  1. Where can I transfer my membership?

Current Wake AHEC Training Center members will be transferred to Rex Healthcare Training Center unless otherwise requested.  To transfer to Rex Healthcare, sign the transfer request enclosed with your membership renewal invoice and return to Wake AHEC.  

If you would like to transfer to a different Training Center, complete a transfer request form and ask the new Training Center to sign the form showing that they have accepted your membership. Submit the form to Wake AHEC, and we will send your records to the Training Center of your choice.

  1. Where should I email course rosters?

E-mail all course rosters to amthomas@wakemed.org.

When is the last day I can submit a course roster?

June 1, 2008 is the last day rosters may be submitted to the Wake AHEC Training Center for processing.  You will be notified when your records have been transferred to Rex Healthcare or other designated Training Center.  From that time forward, rosters should be submitted to your new Training Center.

  1. How will Instructor Renewals be handled?

Instructor Renewal Courses will be offered in April and June of 2008 on site at Rex Healthcare.  These courses are being offered under the Wake AHEC Training Center, and all instructors can complete their renewals prior to transferring to another Training Center.  Your renewal card will be processed by the Wake AHEC Training Center.

  1. How do I register for an Instructor Renewal?

All Instructor Renewals in 2008 will be held at Rex Healthcare.  Please contact Gwen Privette (Rex Healthcare Training Site Coordinator) at 919-784-4023 to register. 

  1. When are Instructor Renewals being offered?

BLS Instructor Renewals are being offered at Rex Healthcare on the following dates:

April 25, 2008; 7:00 am – 4:30 pm

April 26, 2008; 7:00 am – 11:30 am

June 6, 2008; 7:00 am – 4:30 pm

June 21, 208; 7:00 am – 11:30 am

  1. Where can I purchase books and supplies?

Wake AHEC will no longer provide book store services effective immediately.  Books, pocket masks, and other supplies can be purchased through:

Once Rex Healthcare becomes a Training Center and your membership is transferred, these services will be available through the Rex Healthcare Training Center.
