Nursing Course Catalog

Wake AHEC, Nursing Education, is an Approved Provider of continuing nursing education by the North Carolina Nurses Association (NCNA), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Wake AHEC also provides CEU credit for programs. The North Carolina Board of Nursing accepts CEU for required hours for a nurse to maintain licensure.

In response to the evolving challenges of nursing staff distribution, recruitment, and retention, Wake AHEC participates in several special projects in addition to providing continuing education programs (from small on-site programs to large regional, state and even national conferences).

North Carolina Nursing Initiatives:

  • RN Refresher Program: Program designed for registered nurses who have been out of direct patient care for 5 or more years; theory course in Adult Medical-Surgical Nursing. For more information, click here.
  • Clinical Site Development: Each year, the NC AHEC Program may allocate funds to eligible schools of nursing within the community colleges and the constituent institutions of UNC to develop new clinical training sites for nursing students. For more information, click here.
  • Education Mobility: Interested in returning to school for BSN, MSN, PhD or DNP? Current workforce data suggest that the need for advanced practice nurses will continue to increase over the next decade. For more information regarding educational mobility options available, check out the College Foundation of North Carolina
