Health Careers Programs and Activities...

Health Careers Saturday Academy
Workshops are held one Saturday each month from September through May of each year.  Students explore a wide variety of health professions, learn about important issues in health care and how to prepare for future careers.  Separate sessions are offered for high school students and middle school students.  Workshops are conducted at the Andrew’s Conference Center on the main campus of WakeMed Raleigh unless otherwise noted in registration materials.  Workshops fill quickly, so pre-registration is required.

Exploration Station: On Track to a Health Career
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a patient in the hospital?  What would it be like to work there as a healthcare provider?   While attending this five-day health careers “adventure” sponsored by Wake AHEC, students meet various health professionals and learn about health careers as they tour hospital departments and participate in educational activities.  A minimal fee applies to this program.

Topics covered include: Emergency Services, Laboratory, Radiology, Rehabilitation, Surgery, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, and more.

Classroom Presentations
Let us present to your class, school club, or any group of students on how to achieve a successful career in the health field and explore a multitude of health career options. Presentations include a mixture of lecture, question & answer, and group work to create an engaging environment for students.
