Title:  Institute for Educators in Healthcare: Instructional Strategies for Educators in the Health Professions
Description:  The on-line course is an intensive 4-week instructor led course, requiring one module per week. The learner will be required to engage in the course frequently each week over the 4-week period in order to meet continuing education requirements. There are no pre-requisites for this course. The instructor is an experienced NCSU faculty member who is expert in the field of education. Professional credits will be provided to those engaging in and completing the course. The content by week is as follows: Establishing your learning environment and creating a teaching plan (Week 1); designing an engaging lesson (Week 2); teaching psychomotor skills (Week 3); and, reflecting on teaching and supporting authentic learning (Week 4). Required text: The following text must be purchased for use during the course from your favorite on-line vendor or www.ichapters.com: Svinick, M. & McKeachie, W.J. (2011) McKeachie's Teaching Tips: Strategies, Research, and Theory for College and University Teachers, 13th edition.

Audience:  This on-line course will be of interest to health science faculty who are new to teaching, need an update on teaching skills, or need to meet requirements for faculty from the North Carolina Board of Nursing or for accreditation standards for numerous allied health programs.
