Title:  Latino Cultural Issues in Mental Health and Substance Abuse Treatment
Description:  This program is designed to familiarize mental health and substance abuse care providers with the cultural aspects of Latino population that may impact treatment.

Audience:  Mental health professionals, including psychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, pastoral counselors, substance abuse counselors, school counselors, school support staff, and other mental health or public health professionals working with Hispanic/Latino children, youth and families

Objectives:  1. Discuss how Latino cultural values can effect mental health and substance abuse treatment.
  2. Discuss three differences between American and Latino cultures.
  3. Discuss ways to interact with Latino clients in developing trust and therapeutic relationships.
